7 Faults of Students Who Study Abroad

Studying abroad can be an adventure of a lifetime if planned out right. The thing that students of this generation fail to account for is the preparation and planning behind their overseas learning. Instead of saving up, they end up being in debt in the long-run. They can also become a victim of kidnapping, violence and more.

In this piece, we will attempt to highlight a list of the most common pitfalls made by students who want to study abroad. We hope that by the time you’re done with this, you will have everything you need before you even start packing your bags.

Fault #1: Not planning for anything

The simplest mistake that any student can make before heading out is not planning for the life that awaits them. It’s not just about their college tenure; it is also about them not looking into their host nation for a number of things. You can’t wake up without knowing what you’re going to do for the rest of the day. In fact, you have to plan for college assignments because studies abroad are difficult. If you can’t do assignments on time, you’d have to look for assignment writing help from assignment labs.

This is when you didn’t plan out whether you are going to be staying at your dorm room or at an apartment. It is also when you didn’t check up on the crime, weather and other statistics upon your arrival.

Fault #2: Packing too much

You’re going for your studies, not a new home where you pack everything with you. You don’t need to pack in extra toiletries, towels and blankets among other things that you can easily get over at your host country. For one thing, your suitcase may explode and another thing, luggage costs will be serious.

Fault #3: Not abiding by the rules of that place

The last thing you would want to do is give your home state a bad name. You may want to wear loose clothing, listen to rock and roll and drink until you pass out, but the country where you are going to be studying over at, might not be so welcoming of this all.

This is because there are strict rules that you need to follow up on. Otherwise, there will be serious repercussions such as deportation or incarceration.

Fault #4: Thinking English is spoken everywhere

Don’t place all of your eggs in one basket assuming every nation is going to be speaking English, even if it is a common language. You will need to buff up your lingual skills if you ever hope to make through. You may want to learn it in order to complete the program you have chosen.

Besides, doing so may improve your employment opportunities in that area.

Fault #5: Mocking other cultures

The other last thing you would want to do is get on the bad side of your host neighbors. You don’t have to appreciate other cultures if you don’t like it, but don’t make it so apparent that everyone can see you doing it. Showing your disproval in public will insult the nation and the people as a whole.

Unless you give it a try, you never know whether you may end up liking it or not.

Fault #6: Not meeting new people

The whole point about you going abroad to study is studying in general, but that doesn’t mean that you shut yourself out from the rest of your colleagues. Humans are social animals in a nutshell and that means that you have to break the ice sooner or later. Start by learning their language to give you a better edge.

Fault #7: Not exploring

Where’s the fun in staying at one place? Eventually you are going to get bored and tire out. The mind needs something fresh to keep it interested. Also exploring different areas could help you better cope with the new world before you.
